In 2006, Shelly Rachanow published If Women Ran the World, Sh*t Would Get Done, which celebrates all the remarkable things women do. And while it's true that the title came to Shelly in a flash one morning when her ordinarily-supportive boyfriend refused to take out the trash, the real inspiration was Shelly's mom and the millions of women around the world who do so much for so many each and every day. Shelly's mom raised three kids (one with a disability who still requires daily care), worked outside the home, fought for better laws for the disabled, and still managed to cook dinner every night. She often says, "I don't do anything amazing. I just do what needs to get done."
The real truth – for her and for all women – is that our ability to get so much done each and every day is what makes women amazing in the first place.
Today, Shelly continues to honor and encourage the butt-kicking, creative, talented, amazing, multitasking women everywhere who are determined to make a positive impact on others and our world, and who have the courage to be themselves and do the "something" they can do to make the world a better place.
Shelly recently created the first line of "female-applauding" products inspired by her book (soon to be celebrating it's 10th anniversary) to share her conviction that together we can create the kind of beautiful future everyone deserves.
“The question isn’t who is going to let me - it’s who is going to stop me.”
